Structural Design Engineer

We are currently seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join our structural design team. The ideal candidate possesses strong foundational design abilities and embraces creative, outside of the box thinking, ready to tackle unique design challenges and expand upon their design experience. This individual will be responsible for providing design support for structural engineering projects, working collaboratively with other Finch & Associates team members.  This position has high growth potential with the opportunity to gain additional responsibilities within our growing firm.

Functions and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Complete design tasks under the supervision of a PE for structural projects ranging from new construction and adaptive reuse building projects to specialized infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with preparation of project construction drawings.
  • Review project shop drawings and assist with preparation of responses to contractor RFIs or questions during project construction.
  • Complete site visits to gather field information if required to complete project design, and to periodically observe construction and ensure the project is executed in accordance with the design intent.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to engage with team members and work collaboratively.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus is required.
  • EI certification is required.
  • 2-4 years of Structural Engineering design experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and basic AutoCAD (or similar) skills are required. Specific experience with Revit, RAM Structural System, IES Structural Software, RISA or similar software is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
